The showroom is often the most polished part of a factory.
It should not be the only part you inspect.
Spend time on the production floor.
Look at:
Materials
How are different materials and specifications managed?
Pattern Development and Cutting
Can you see real patterns and development work?
Printing
Where and how are custom logos and graphics produced?
Production
Look at products currently being manufactured, not only display samples.
Quality Control
Ask a simple question:
“What happens to this product if it fails inspection?”
The answer may tell you more than asking whether the factory “has QC.”
People
Watch how employees actually work.
Small details on the production floor can reveal a great deal about manufacturing management.
A factory audit is not simply about determining how large a supplier is. It is about understanding how that supplier works every day.
