Many clients wonder why the factory principal personally tests new surf wetsuits in open water instead of only checking samples in workshop. At Yalisi, the answer is straightforward: data on drawings and samples in workshop can never replace real immersion and water impact. Recently, the principal of Yalisi traveled to Wanlv Lake for field testing of our newly developed surf wetsuit at an air temperature of 20°C. We refuse product development behind closed doors.

The air temperature at Wanlv Lake was 20°C on the test day. It felt cool on shore, yet the lake water quickly drains body heat once you get in. After putting on our new surf wetsuit and entering the lake, the thermal insulation performance stood out. The wetsuit keeps wearers warm in this moderate-temperature water, solving the hypothermia concern for paddling and surfing in spring and autumn.
We focused on three core design features in this field test:
- Smooth Skin Neoprene Collar Finish Neck chafing is one of the most common complaints for surf and diving wetsuits. Our new wetsuit adopts smooth skin binding on the neck opening. The soft surface eliminates friction and prevents neck irritation during long-time paddling. This detail fixes the pain point of skin abrasion.
- Reinforced Knee Pads for Extra Wear Resistance When surfing or stand-up paddling, knees bear heavy friction from kneeling on boards and scraping against rocks. We add reinforced panels on knees to strengthen abrasion resistance, extending the service life of the wetsuit with solid practicality.
- Natural Buoyancy from Premium Neoprene Material
The neoprene material delivers inherent buoyancy. It saves physical strength during long paddling sessions. In emergency situations, the buoyancy helps users stay afloat and improves safety on the water.

A good water sports garment cannot be judged only by touch in a workshop. It has to go through water soaking, wave impact and stretching to reveal hidden defects that cannot be spotted from design drawings. If we only evaluate garments indoors, we will never learn the real changes in fitting, water ingress, friction and warmth after long immersion. We must become end-users ourselves to understand real customer needs. We will not release new styles to clients until our team leader finishes real-water testing and confirms all details are qualified.
Yalisi specializes in OEM & ODM manufacturing for wetsuits and surf suits, serving water sports brands from the US, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia. We firmly believe that wetsuit development should never be done behind closed doors. All new styles require real-water field tests. We design products from surfers’ and divers’ standpoint and polish every craft detail.

For Yalisi, every delivered surf wetsuit or diving wetsuit is more than apparel. It brings comfort and safety for water activities. We stick to field testing and strict quality standards, providing reliable custom wetsuit production for global water sports brands.
